Are you out of work and hoping to improve your chances of finding a new job? If you’re aged over 19, we offer free training in association with Job Centre Plus. No previous experience is needed for these courses, just a willingness to participate and learn and a commitment to complete the course. Sanctions may be imposed by Job Centre Plus if you agree to attend a course and then discontinue without good reason.

Please note that all materials will be provided on these courses.

Improve your literacy and numeracy

If you need help to improve your literacy and/or numeracy, we offer free assessments and classes. We can offer a wide variety of short courses which you can find under our Courses for Adults section of the website.

Work Skills and other short courses

We also offer a WorkSkills Course which aims to build confidence, help with interview skills and assist with producing a CV; and other short courses ranging from a 1 day Food Hygiene course, and for those lacking confidence with computers, we can assist with a basic Computer for Beginners course over 3-4 days. It is necessary for us to have enough suitable people to run some of these courses so please contact us to find out when these courses are running.

Improve or update your computer skills

We have a dedicated Computer Centre at Strode College where you can further progress and update your computer skills and gain the qualifications that employers are requesting. Learning new skills or updating existing ones can also help to build your confidence and add to your CV.

Aged over 24 and well qualified

If you are already well qualified, but want to take an advanced Level 3 qualification or higher while you are unemployed, and you are over the age of 24, you will need to take out a 24+ loan to fund your course.
