Are you out of work and looking to get the right skills to find a new job? Then there is some positive news for you! Strode College, in association with Job Centre Plus, is offering free training. Courses include retail , customer service, business administration and computer skills. Other courses planned include hospitality, sales and care, There is a range of options including group courses and individual study. This will enable you to gain the right skills, add to your CV, and gain the qualification which employers recognise as best preparing you for work. This will give you an edge in getting that job!
All materials will be provided. No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to participate and learn and a commitment to see the course to its conclusion! Computer Training for the Unemployed
Tuesday 20 - Thursday 22 July 9.30am - 3.30pm at Strode College
This computer course is suitable for all levels - beginners to advanced. There is a group session at the start of the course then after assessment the learner can work individually at the level appropriate for them on the program of their choice (in conjunction with tutor advice).

Principles of Care Course
Tuesday 17 - Thursday 19 August 9.30am - 3.30pm at Frome
This course is suitable for all learners and will cover the following topics:
- Infection Control
- Health and Safety
- Risk Assessment
- Moving and Handling
- Safe guarding vulnerable adults
- Difficult behaviour
- Dementia
- Communication
- Emotional well being
- Confidentiality
- Written language
- A 4 hour appointed first aid course
- Talk from a local care home manager.

Practical Preparation for Working in the Catering Industry
Monday 9 - Friday 20 August 10.00am - 3.00pm each day at Strode College
This course is suitable for all learners who may want to go into the catering industry. It will offer 6 days of practical cooking culminating in preparation of a 2 course lunch. A basic food hygiene certificate can be gained as well as customer service / hospitality training and a 4 hour appointed persons first aid certificate.
Learners will need a change of clothes for the practical skills days.
