- National Citizen Service Senior Team Leader (Fixed term for 6 weeks)

Responsible to: National Citizen Service Project ManagerJob Purpose: To lead an NCS group through their summer programme which takes place from 23rd July to 22nd August 2012.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities1 To work flexibly across all phases of the project, residentials and occasional evenings.
2 To work with the Project Manager to develop and organise the NCS programme of events and activities
3 To manage and supervise the Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders
4 To deliver a programme of events and activities to meet the aims of the project.
5 To work flexibly across all phases or the project; residentials and occasional evenings.
6 Responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of participants throughout their summer project.
7 Deliver activities in a variety of settings to provide young people with a positive experience on the NCS programme.
8 To liaise with partners and providers in the delivery of the project.
9 Support the Deputy Team Leaders so they are able to deputise for the Team Leader Managers as required
10 Ensure that young people's log books are completed and evidence gathered to support accreditation.
11 To engage with NCS participants in a range of settings and ways of working to meet their individual needs, to enable a successful participation in NCS by identifying barriers to participation, and to agree action plans to implement agreed outcomes.
12 To keep and maintain records as necessary in line with project audit requirements.
13 Respond accordingly to young people's identified needs with youth work values.
14 To adhere to the College Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policies.
15 To comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 i.e. it is the responsibility of individual staff members to protect data and to take all reasonable steps to ensure all data is kept securely.
Person Specification:
Attainments Academic:
Educated to A Level or equivalent experienceAttainments Occupational:
Considerable relevant experience in working with young people in a variety of settings.
High competence in working with young people in residential settings.
Experiences in applying good Safeguarding practice in residential and non-residential settings.
Hold a valid recognised First Aid certificate
Hold a full driving license with minibus entitlement
Experience of inter-agency work
Special Aptitudes/Skills:
An ability to engage with young people, some of whom may have learning, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
Leadership skills.
Independent working skills.
Good team working skills

Terms and Conditions:1 This is a fixed term post for 6 weeks. You will need to be available to run a summer programme from 23rd July to 22nd August 2012 plus another 7 days (dates to be confirmed).
2 The actual salary for this post is £3,875 based on the full time rate of £30,160 per annum.

4 There are 4 mandatory training which units must be undertaken. The training sessions are Safeguarding Children, Health and Safety, Disability Discrimination Act and Equal Opportunities.
