Strode's best ever results confirm Ofsted's 'outstanding' judgement
Our 2015 A Level and vocational results are outstanding - the best ever achieved. They clearly reinforce Ofsted's judgement that we provide `outstanding` teaching and support that leads to outstadning student progress and achievements.
Our A Level students achieved excellent results across the breadth of subjects studied, including the 'facilitating' subjects favoured by many universities such as Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, History, Geography and Languages; and other more specialist subjects such as Law, Psychology, Sociology, Film Studies, Art and Design and Textiles.
The overall pass rate for A Levels this year is 99.6%, significantly higher than the national average of 98.1%. The number of students at Strode who gained high grades of A* to B is 57% compared to 52.7% nationally, with 9.1% of students achieving A* grades compared to 8.2% nationally; 31 students gained three or more A grades. 82% of students gained A* to C grades compared to 77.2% nationally. Subjects notable for the high number of A* grades are Geography 29%, Biology 25%, Further Maths 21%, Art and Design 21%, Maths 18% and Law 17%.
Our advanced level vocational results are also excellent, with a 99% pass rate; 53% of students achieved a Triple Distinction or higher, with 34% achieving a Triple Distinction Star, equivalent of 3 A* at A Level.
AS results were also excellent with 13 students achieving four A grades at AS Level and Albie Gifford (from Shepton Mallet and formerly at Whitstone School) achieving five A grades, in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Human Biology and Psychology.
