Health & Social Care HND
Purpose
This course is aimed at people interested in or already working in a Health and Social Care setting, who want to achieve a Level 5 qualification. It is a professionally based qualification for those wishing to take on more senior roles such as Deputy Manager.
Course content
You will study a broad range of topics related to health and social care settings including:
- Principles of Health and Social Care practice
- Communicating in Health and Social Care organisations
- Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care
- Working in Partnership in Health and Social Care
- Developing Counselling Skills
You will attend college for one day a week and be required to work in a health or social care setting, this can be either employed or voluntary work.
Assessment
You will be assessed by a variety of methods including:
- coursework,
- reports,
- case studies,
- portfolios,
- essay,
- observations,
- presentations
Entry requirements
Students must have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, and five GCSEs A*-C, including Maths and English (or equivalent).
You will also need relevant Health & Social Care experience and you will need to attend a personal interview.
Progression to
After completion of the course successful students may wish to progress onto a Level 6 course of study.
