HHaA GraduationFoundation Degrees

Foundation Degrees are vocationally-based Level 5 qualifications designed to integrate academic study and work-based learning. They are designed for those who are, or who wish to be, working at the higher technical or associate professional level. Foundation degrees can form part of a Higher Apprenticeship.

Every Foundation Degree includes work related learning which provides students with an outstanding opportunity to present themselves to an employer and to learn the most up-to-date business or sector methods. A great head start for job hunting at the end of your studies.

We offer the following Foundation Degrees:

Our high-quality Foundation Degrees, which are offered in partnership with Plymouth University, are delivered locally to be affordable and to minimise travel and time costs. Our tuition fees are substantially lower than those charged by most universities.

Foundation Degrees can be studied in the following ways.

  • Full-time - two days at college each week for two years.
  • Part-time – one day at college each week for four years.
  • Flexibly - module by module at your own pace.

Depending on the number of modules studied, students may gain a Short Course Certificate or a Certificate of Professional Development (CPD) from Plymouth University.

Our students’ success is the key focus at the Strode and we are delighted to be able to extend our History Heritage and Archaeology programme in partnership with Plymouth University.

In September 2014 graduates who successfully complete the FdA History, Heritage and Archaeology Foundation Degree have the opportunity to top-up their qualification to a full BA (Hons) Degree at Strode College.  The top-up year is also available to any student who has specific qualifications at level 4 or 5 in related subjects or who have achieved parts of degrees or recognised modules.

The BA (Hons) top up programme can be studied as follows:
