Learning Centre

The Learning Centre offers students and staff a comfortable and well-resourced area on two floors which combines modern IT facilities and a traditional library; the ground floor is available for group work and discussion, the first floor is set aside for quiet personal study, where students work individually. It is an ideal environment for students to study when they are not in class.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff are always on hand to help students find the information they need, and can also offer guidance on how to access and use the services provided. There are over 30,000 books (fiction and non-fiction) which can be borrowed, covering many subject areas. Students also have access to nearly 3,000 e-books and various online databases. The Learning Centre Intranet acts as a portal to much of this information. There is also a comprehensive DVD and video library and preview area. Other resources include maps, daily newspapers and periodicals. All these items are searchable on Heritage Online, the library catalogue.

The Audio-Visual Centre is available to lend students a range of equipment to assist with studies, including: still, video and digital cameras; tripods, lenses etc; digital voice recorders; CD players and microphones.

The Careers and Higher Education Team is also based in the Learning Centre offering information and guidance. Members of the public may also use the books and journals for reference purposes only.
