Information Technology

In this day and age, the ability to use IT effectively is vital, both as an aid to study and in preparation for future employment. The college supports this requirement by offering students industry standard hardware and software applications.

There are hundreds of computers available in open access areas throughout the College, all with high speed Internet access and printing facilities. The Learning Centre hosts PCs as well as Apple Macs along with copying facilities. There is also a campus wide wireless network whereby students can connect their own laptops.

All students have their own email account which can be used at college and at home via the Student Portal. In addition, students have network space to store college work and assignments, and if a course requires students to keep an electronic portfolio, they will be given their own space for this.

Over 40 classrooms have interactive whiteboards which can help make classroom activities interesting and exciting.  Many courses have their own web based virtual learning environment (VLE) using MOODLE, where students can communicate and collaborate with their teacher and other students, and can access their learning materials at any time and anywhere.

The electronic library and all the learning resources can be accessed from home, 24/7 through the College website.
