The introduction of advanced technologies and new materials has created many interesting opportunities for the modern engineer. Whether you wish to develop a career in design, materials, maintenance or production, these courses will help you.
The HNC will focus on the education and training of operations and maintenance engineers and technicians. You may already be employed at a professional level in a variety of technical work, such as: operations and maintenance system design; manufacture, maintenance and technical services; mechatronic or instrumentation and control engineering work.
Length of study
You can study the HND full-time over two years, attending college two days each week. If you are employed you can study the HND part-time over four years, gaining the HNC in the first two years.
You can study the HNC part-time over two years studying alongside the HND students.
For the HND you will study all modules set out below. For the HNC you will study eight modules from the HND programme including core modules.

You will have opportunities to visit employers and organisations in the UK to enhance your studies, plus an international visit. Students have previously visited the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva and Berlin. Costs for trips are additional to course fees.
Your work will be assessed in various ways including: written reports, presentations, case studies, individual/group projects and reflective statements. The awarding body is Edexcel (Pearson).
