What will you do on this course?
This one year course provides initial training for those wishing to work with children and young people and provides a potential stepping stone to level 3 qualifications.
Areas of study include:
- working with children and young people,
- personal and professional development,
- work experience in relevant settings.
The course involves compulsory practical work experience for at least one day a week throughout the academic year. Settings include primary schools and day nurseries.
How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed through a variety of assignment work and external tests. You will be assessed on your practical competence through work placement experience.
You are required to maintain a minimum 90% attendance for all parts of the course.

You will need a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check - a government requirement for all people working with children, vulnerable adults and young people including on work experience. Assistance will be given with this, once you are in college.
