In order to join an AAT course you are required to become a member of AAT. This is an annual membership and you need to organise it directly with AAT; you will be advised at your interview how to go about this (as at April 2016, the cost of AAT membership is in the region of £88). The first time you become a member you also have to pay a one-off registration fee direct to AAT (at April 2016 this fee was £45). You can find out more about AAT and its membership by visiting www.aat.org.uk.
This qualification provides a thorough foundation in book-keeping and basic accounting practices. You will be able to understand the double entry book-keeping system, maintain journal and control accounts and reconcile balances and make corrections.
This is particularly suitable if you are looking to start up your own business, or if you want to be the treasurer of a local club or society, or if you who want to develop basic book-keeping skills. Assessment is via a computer-based exam.
Please note that students on this course only have to pay the one off registration fee to AAT, not the membership fee.
An interview is required for this course.
