In order to join an AAT course you are required to become a member of AAT. This is an annual membership and you need to organise it directly with AAT; you will be advised at your interview how to go about this (as at April 2016, the cost of AAT membership is in the region of £88). The first time you become a member you also have to pay a one-off registration fee direct to AAT (at April 2016 this fee was £45). You can find out more about AAT and its membership by visiting www.aat.org.uk.
This AAT qualification will provide you with the skills and knowledge to undertake basic manual accounting. The information covered includes book-keeping tasks such as cash book entries, petty cash records, trial balances, control accounts, and computerised accounting.
You will be assessed via computer-based exams, a project and case study. It is expected that you will already have basic IT skills.
