Sculpture - Modelling, Mould Making and Casting

Course code: SS112

Monday 8 July to Wednesday 10 July 9.30am to 4.00pm

This is a practical and hands-on sculpture workshop, suitable for all levels of experience. The focus of the activity will be ‘head sculpture’ and you will be looking at anatomy and modelling techniques in clay to develop human and animal inspired sculpture work.

You will learn how to make latex rubber and plaster jacket-moulds and will create a number of different plaster casts. The casts will be finished with a range of mark-making and surface techniques, including copper, iron, waxes and gold leaf.

Extension activities will be available for particularly keen students and all will be able to take their sculptures and moulds away with them. (If you have photographs or reference materials you will need to bring these with you). (Maximum 10 places).
