Beauty Therapy L3 NVQ Diploma

What will you do on this course?
On this one year course you will cover the relevant theory and practical treatments used in the beauty industry. You will find this course suitable if you have already qualified as a Beauty Therapist at Level 2. You will attend college three to four days each week and will have one full week of work experience. Areas of study are: Financial Effectiveness of Business; Facial & Body Electrical Treatments; Electrical Epilation (permanent hair removal); Massage using Pre Blended Aromatherapy Oils; Body Massage; Monitor Safe Work Operations; Plan and Implement Promotional Activities.
Additional training and qualifications will give you a real advantage in the workplace and broader product knowledge. You will have the opportunity to achieve Fake Bake Lotion and Spray Certificates, Lash Perfect Individual Lash Certificate, Dermalogica Level 3 Certificate and Jane Iredale Advanced Techniques Certificate. All training is carried out in a fully commercial salon environment.
Work experience is an essential part of the course and you will work with paying clients in our Beauty Salon in a supported and supervised arrangement.
You will have the opportunity to show off your skills during the annual End of Year Showcase.
Various industry related trips are arranged such as The Clothes Show Live and residential trips to Paris or London. New for 2016 - you may have the opportunity to take part in our French Exchange programme with Lycée Professionnel - Agen.

How is the course assessed?
A variety of assessment methods are used including observations, written tests, assignments, oral questions and completion of a log book. City & Guilds Exam Board.
University and career progression
You could progress into working in management, salons, cruise liners, health spas, airlines, self employment or study at university.
Many students have progressed into employment or selfemployment in salons and spas locally, nationally and internationally, including Steiner cruise ships and Chalet Marco Polo in Val d'Isere. The Bannatyne Spa at Charlton House Spa Hotel has recruited a number of our beauty therapy students and praised the high standards of training at Strode.
You must have passed NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy or equivalent before progressing to the Level 3 course. Level 2 gives you an excellent foundation for extending your skills and knowledge.
Essential epilation equipment will be provided by the college.

Emma studied the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy. She is taking a gap year to work as a freelance beauty therapist and to do voluntary work abroad before studying sports massage at university.
