Beauty Therapy L2 NVQ Diploma

What will you do on this course?
On this one year course you will learn all the basic services required to work as a therapist in the beauty industry. During the course you will study: Health & Safety; Promote Additional Products and Services; Develop and Maintain your Effectiveness at Work; Salon Reception Duties; Provide Facial Skin Care Treatments; Enhance the Appearance of Eyebrows and Eyelashes; Carry out Waxing Services; Provide Manicure Services; Provide Pedicure Services; Provide Make-up Services.
Additional training and qualifications will give you a real advantage in the workplace and broader product knowledge. You will have the opportunity to achieve certificates in Dermalogica, Jane Iredale Mineral Basics Make-up, Caflon earpiercing training, and have an opportunity to take part in further training with a professional make up artist. All training is carried out in a fully commercial salon environment.
One week of work experience in industry is also a course requirement and you will work with paying clients in our Beauty Salon in a supported and supervised arrangement.
You will have the opportunity to show off your skills during the annual End of Year Showcase.
A variety of industry related trips are arranged including The Clothes Show Live and residential trips to Iceland – Blue Lagoon.

How is the course assessed?
A variety of assessment methods are used including observations, online exams, assignments and completion of a portfolio. City & Guilds Exam Board.
University and career progression
You can progress to study the City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy or Complementary Therapies Level 3 Diploma. You could then possibly study Salon Business Management at university or gain employment in beauty salons, health clubs, cruise liners, spas, product retailing and self employment as freelance therapists.
Former students have gone on to study the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy and Apprenticeships. The Bannatyne Spa at Charlton House Spa Hotel has recruited a number of our beauty therapy students and praised the high standards of training at Strode.
5 GCSE grades A* to D or equivalent, such as NVQ Level 1 plus a GCSE grade E or above. It would be beneficial for students to have gained Science and English Language GCSE.
Essential beauty kit approx £85 and professional uniform £55.
