What will you do on this course?
This course is suitable for students wishing to become an Assistant in a hairdressing salon with a desire to progress to an Apprenticeship in Level 2 Hairdressing or other employment.
You will study:
- Health & Safety;
- Effective Team Work Skills;
- Shampooing and Conditioning Hair;
- Supporting Colouring Services;
- Preparing the Salon for all services;
- Basic Blow Drying;
- Functional English, Maths and ICT.
You will also cover Personal & Social Development.
Practical observations in a fully working salon environment, assessments, written tests, assignments, oral questions and log book completion.
Fully commercial training salon, an opportunity to take part in work experience (which will be for 1 week of your course). External visits to national exhibitions. You will also be required to take part in the annual College Hairdressing competition.
Level 2 Hairdressing Apprenticeship or employment as an Assistant in a hairdressing salon or full time Level 2 Diploma in Womens Hairdressing.
Most students progress to the Level 2 Hairdressing Apprenticeship or full time Level 2 Diploma in Womens Hairdressing.
No formal qualifications are required but GCSE grades will be taken into consideration, however basic reading and writing skills are essential for success on this programme.
You will also need to demonstrate a keen interest in the hairdressing industry and be willing to work as part of the team in our commercial salon environment.
- Visits to Exhibitions throughout the year approx £60.
- Hairdressing kit, approx £100 (including uniform).
