Transport advice for students during the Glastonbury Festival
If you have exams at College on the following days and you are planning to travel to College by bus or car, please be aware that Glastonbury Festival traffic may affect your journey.
- Wednesday 21 June
- Thursday 22 June
- Friday 23 June
- Monday 26 June
Last year, heavy rainfall prevented Glastonbury Festival traffic entering the festival site and this caused significant hold ups on local roads. Unfortunately, this did affect some Strode students who were travelling to College by bus and car for their exams. This year, there will be additional security checks on people entering the festival and this could slow the flow of traffic.
We have been in touch with the Glastonbury Festival organisers and with Somerset County Council Transport team and we will monitor traffic closely. If problems do arise we will keep students informed via our website, email and text.
It is important that you get to College in time for your exams, so consider what you can do to avoid being late.

What should you do if you are late for your exam?
Call the Strode Exams Office: 01458 844413
If you think you are going to be late for an exam call the Exams Office as soon as possible to let them know that you are delayed by the Glastonbury traffic. They may be able to give you advice relevant to your specific circumstances.You will need to tell them:
- your name;
- the exam you are taking;
- where you are when you call (ie how far away you are from college).
If you are delayed, you will still be allowed to enter the exam room up until 10:00am for a morning exam and up until 2:30pm for an afternoon exam. After these times the awarding body are unlikely to accept any work unless you are being supervised by a parent or other responsible adult during the journey and written confirmation of this can be provided when you arrive at college. If you arrive after these times, you should report to the Exams Office in room B6 so that you can be escorted by a member of staff to your exam room.
