Strode College Beauty Therapy students helped raise over £500 for Cancer Support when their teacher’s sister-in-law boldly went under the shears for Macmillan’s ‘Brave the Shave’ campaign.
Marcie Mickleburgh, who teaches Beauty Therapy at Strode, said: “I always enjoy taking part in charity events but shaving Aly’s hair off was actually quite a challenge! I am proud of her for 'Braving the Shave' and really pleased with the amount of money we raised for cancer support.”
Aly’s husband Roy Elson, who also works at Strode College, volunteered for ‘the chop’ too, making the fundraiser a real family affair.
“It was really nice of Strode to let me use the college’s salon facilities. Aly has already said she’ll probably do it again – once her hair grows back!”
