School leavers

After your GCSEs you can join Strode College to study A Levels, a vocational course or, in some cases, a mixture of both. You can also train with us if you are on an Apprenticeship and you can register your interest in an Apprenticeship by applying to us.

Before you apply, make sure you explore your options fully by looking at our courses for school leavers and ask us for information and advice. When you have a good idea about what course or mix of subjects you want to study, you can apply.

When to apply

We do not have a deadline for applications, but we would encourage you to apply as soon as possible as many courses are very popular. We hold Open Evenings and College Experience Days in October, November, December and January to help you with this important decision. Check our Events section for more information.

How to apply

Apply online

To apply online, go to the course search, choose each course that you are interested in and click the button `Add to my courses`.  When you have chosen all the courses that you are interested in, click `My courses` in the top right corner of this website and you will enter our online application system. When you have completed your online application, you will receive an acknowledgement by email.

Apply by post

You can also apply on the printed application form that is included in our Prospectus for School Leavers and send it to our FREEPOST address:

Freepost RTJE-YBZU-BSTB, Strode College, Church Road, STREET, BA16 0AB

Interview (advice and guidance)

When we receive your application, we will invite you to an information, advice and guidance session, where we will give you further details about the courses you have chosen and about Strode. This is a good opportunity to talk in more detail about you, your application and your future plans, and to make sure you have chosen the courses that are right for you.

You will receive an offer in writing, conditional on you achieving the entry requirements for your chosen course(s).

Pre-induction day

You will be invited to attend the Pre-Induction Day in June to meet your personal tutor and sample the course(s)you have chosen.

You need to enrol to officially join your course(s). Enrolment takes place in August after your GCSE results come out. You will be advised when to come into college to enrol; we will tell you what you need to do and what information you need to bring.

Your first day

Our staff will guide you throughout the day and help you find your way around. You will meet your personal tutor who will look after you and the rest of your student group, helping you to find your classrooms and understand your timetable. You will have the opportunity to join different activities and groups as well as catch up with your friends at lunchtime.

Your classes will finish at 4.30pm in time for you to catch your bus back home; staff will be on hand to help you with any transport questions you may have.
