The Cabinet of Dr Caligari - film with live music soundtrack

Tuesday 14th June, 7.30pm at Strode Theatre. Tickets: £5.50, full concession £4.50, students £3.50.

Strode Theatre will be showing the early silent masterpiece of 1920s German expressionistic cinema 'The Cabinet of Dr Caligari', accompanied by a live and contemporary soundtrack performed by Strode College's Music Technology students.

This sinister black and white silent film is a cult classic which uses painted and distorted sets to create a weird world where insanity and reality mix with a surprising final twist. This is a story of murder and intrigue set in a small German town where fairground hypnotist Dr Caligari uses a sleepwalker as a circus attraction.

The live improvised sound track will be performed by Strode's Music Technology students using music software and hardware to showcase their creativity and technical skills. They will draw from a wide range of modern musical influences including Dubstep, Hip Hop, Rock and Ambient.
