- 13/10/10 - Celebrity Chef Cook-off at College
Strode College recently hosted a celebrity cook-off for a new ITV cookery programme 'Ten Mile Menu'. As the College's Hospitality and Catering students finished their lessons for the day, the celebrities and camera crew moved into the newly refurbished teaching kitchen to begin filming.
Chef Paul Rankin and his presenter team mate Zoe Salmon competed against Chef Jo Pratt and her actress team mate Trudie Goodwin. Each team cooked up a three course menu using some of the best produce they had gathered from a ten mile area around Glastonbury. The teams were judged by a Glastonbury based interpretative dance group. Winners of the cook-off will be revealed when the programme in broadcast on ITV1 next spring.
After a morning racing around the local area gathering ingredients, the celebrities and TV crew were tired and in need of sustenance before they began cooking. They were revitalised by a buffet lunch made by Strode hospitality student Jess Draper, pictured here with the TV chefs. Jess, who lives in Middlezoy nr Bridgwater, worked hard to prepare lunch for the crew and she was excited to meet the celebrities who thanked her for the tasty lunch.
