How to Enrol (September 2011)

How to Apply to Join a Course or Enrol

In the Courses for Adult Learners 2011/2012 brochure you will see whether a course requires an informal interview. If the course you are interested in shows this symbol INT you will be required to have an interview with the course tutor.

If a Course Does Not Require an Interview

If your course does not require an interview, you can enrol on a course by doing any of the following:

  • By Phone: Call our Admissions team on 01458 844448. If there is space on the course of your choice, you will be asked all the details as shown on the application form. You will be asked to make payment in full and this should be by debit or credit card. You will not be fully enrolled until we receive your signed agreement which will be sent to you. (N.B. At certain times lines are extremely busy. Please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.)
  • By Post: Complete and sign the application form and send it to us, together with a cheque for payment in full. Once your application form has been received by us we will check if there is space on your chosen course and if there is a place, you will be sent confirmation of your enrolment. If the course is full we will contact you by phone to discuss alternative requirements. (N.B. All required information on the application form must be completed or your application will be delayed until we receive the required information.)
  • In Person: Complete and sign the application form and come in person to the College’s main reception. You can pay for your course either in cash, debit/credit card or cheque. Opening times for ‘In Person’ enrolments are: 10am-3pm Monday-Friday (exc. Bank Holidays).
  • On-line: For Enriching Your Talents courses you can now enrol online using the Strode User Enrolment (SUE) system. To do this, search for your desired course and click the "Enrol Now" link. If this is your first online enrolment using SUE, you must first register using Strode User Enrolment Registration Form.
For all other courses that do not require an interview, you can complete the application form on-line. Once we have received this, it will be treated the same as an application by phone and we will need your signature before any enrolment can be completed. (N.B. You cannot pay on-line but we will ask you for your payment details which will be processed by us once we receive your electronic application.)

N.B. If you are paying a reduced fee due to Concessions/Fee Waivers you must enrol in person and your relevant evidence of benefits must be current. If you are paying by direct debit, whilst it is not compulsory, it is advisable that you enrol in person. See Paying for Your Course.

If a Course Requires You to Have an Informal Interview

If a course requires you to have an interview, you should do the following:

  • By Phone: Call our Admissions team on 01458 844448. If there is space on the course of your choice, you will be asked all the details as shown on the application form. We will then inform you about your interview date and time. You will not be asked for any payment at this stage. (N.B. At certain times lines are extremely busy. Please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.)
  • By Post: Complete and sign the application form and send it to us. We will then check if there is space on your chosen course and if there is a place, you will, in due course, be advised about your interview date and time. Do not send any payment with your application form.
  • In Person: Complete the application form and come in person to the College’s main reception. Reception opening times are: 9.30am-4pm Monday-Friday. You will be advised about your interview date and time. You will not be asked for payment at this stage.
  • On-line: You can either complete our application form or a Request for Interview form which you will find by visiting www.strode-college.ac.uk. Once we have received this, it will be treated the same as an application by phone, and we will need your signature before any enrolment can be completed. (N.B. You cannot pay on-line but we will ask you for your payment details which will be processed by us once you have had your interview and been offered a place on the course.)

N.B. If you are paying a reduced fee due to Concessions/Fee Waivers you must enrol in person and your relevant evidence of benefits must be current. If you are paying by direct debit, whilst it is not compulsory, it is advisable that you enrol in person. See Paying for Your Course.

Interviews

Once you have applied you will be advised of the date and time of any personal interview. However, some interviews are telephone interviews and if you are unavailable, a message will be left for you to call back. At the end of your interview the tutor will advise you of any offer of a place on the course. Please note, an offer of a place does not mean you are enrolled on the course and therefore the place is not guaranteed. In order to complete enrolment payment must be made and in some instances other forms completed and signed. If you originally made your application by telephone or on-line you are required to sign the application before enrolment can be confirmed.

Why do we need your mobile?

When you enrol on a course you will be asked to provide your mobile number as well as home and work contacts. Why do we need all three?

Sometimes it is necessary to update you with a very last minute change, e.g. a room change or advise about tutor sickness. If you have supplied your mobile number we will send you a text message with this update. Texts from Strode College can be indentified as they will appear from 07950080227. There is no need to reply, in fact these texts are one way only - replies can’t be taken.

So supplying your mobile number and having it switched on the day of your class is really important. Thank you.
