Tuition Fee Discounts

Pre-payment is required for all courses in full by cash, debit or credit card or by a signed credit agreement/direct debit mandate (see below). However, there are exceptions:

FREE tuition

Most Skills for Life courses are free.

Full Level 2

  • Are you in employment aged 25+ without a level 2 qualification?  Or are you unemployed on active benefits?
  • You do NOT have any qualifications or less than 5 full GCSEs at grades A* - C?

If you can answer yes to one of these questions and the course has an FL2 symbol next to it, you will get FREE tuition!

Full Level 3

  • Are you in employment aged 25+ without a level 3 qualification? Or are you unemployed on active benefits?
  • You do NOT have qualifications at level 3 equivalent to two full A Levels, National Diploma or an NVQ?
  • Do you want to enrol on a level 3 course but do not have a level 2 qualification?

If you can answer yes to one of these questions and the course has an FL3 symbol next to it, you will get FREE tuition!

Full Level 4

  • Are you aged 19-24 without a full level 3 qualification? Are you in employment aged 25+ without a level 2 qualification? Or are you unemployed on active benefits?

If you can answer yes to this question and the course has an FL4 symbol next to it, you will get FREE tuition!

Where you have been advised at interview that you are eligible for this entitlement, you must complete a self-declaration form (this will either be sent to you or be given to you at your interview). You must still pay the registration fee and any fee for materials (although help may be available for these from the Learner Support Fund if you are on a low income).

NB. You must be under 25 on the start date of your course to get a discount.

Spreading the Cost of Your Course

Direct Debit Plan

For courses costing more than £125 and lasting more than 26 weeks, you can spread the costs by paying 30% of the tuition fees, plus the full registration and materials fees on enrolment. You will then have to complete and sign a direct debit mandate form and the remainder (70% of the tuition fees) will then be spread over 6 monthly instalments.

(N.B. The instalments for a direct debit plan will continue until completion even if you leave the course early.) It is advisable that you enrol in person if paying by Direct Debit although this can be arranged by phone.

Instalment Plan

If you are unable to meet the requirements of the direct debit option but need to have some flexibility in payment, an instalment plan may be possible. Each situation is considered individually by the College’s Finance Director and there is a surcharge payment.

Leaving the Armed Forces

We have a special scheme for those leaving the armed forces. Subject to ELCASE authorisation, 80% of the fees will be discounted. Ask for further details.

We are here to help and advise you so if you are not clear on whether you are entitled to any of the above, please call our Admissions team on 01458 844448.
